The retirement age is increasing in many EU countries resulting in workers having longer working lives. By the year 2030 workers aged between 55 to 64 are expected to make up at least 30% of the workforce. An aging workforce may present a number of issues such as:
- More workers with chronic health problems,
- Older workers may be more vulnerable to certain health and safety hazards, and
- Health related problems in certain sectors involving physical or mental work.
